One Piece: These 2 Characters Fail to Become Strong?

Monkey D. Luffy is the main character in Eiichiro Oda's series One Piece.  He has a dream to become a pirate king.  In terms of strength, Luffy is also famous for his abilities and formidable strength.  Luffy also has high determination in every fight.

In his adventures, Luffy meets a lot of people.  Some of them later joined Luffy and became part of his crew.  However, there are also those who actually become enemies of Luffy.  Throughout his time as a pirate, he has faced many enemies.  Some of them are Enel and also Crocodile, who became two of Luffy's initial enemies.

The two characters were Luffy's initial enemies before the timeskip occurred.  Enel himself is the main villain in the Sky Island arc or Skypiea.  While Crocodile is the main villain in the Alabasta arc.  The two villains have a big impact, both for the whole story and also for the character development of Luffy.  For example, Crocodile became the first opponent to defeat Luffy.

Later, Enel became the first person to "introduce" to Luffy about Observation Haki.  Even though they both had bad moments and difficulties for Luffy, in the end the main protagonist still managed to be the winner.  Of the two villains, only Crocodile returned to the main story of the series.  Meanwhile, Enel is back in the cover story.

Potential of Two Characters

Speaking of Crocodile and Enel, both are two characters and villains full of potential.  Crocodile is able to awaken his Suna Suna devil fruit, and Enel is a very strong figure with the Goro Goro no Mi especially with his Haki.  With the power of the devil fruit, both of them really control their respective territories.

The Goro Goro no Mi devil fruit is a unique devil fruit that appears in the One Piece story.  The devil fruit can give the user an interesting power that is able to control, create, and turn himself into electricity at will.  In other words, the user has turned into an electric human.

Enel uses this power when he fights against his enemies, and when he punishes the inhabitants of the sky island who break the rules, making him a god figure/ruler on the sky island.  Apart from utilizing his devil fruit, Enel's abilities are also extraordinary thanks to his Observation Haki which he refers to as a 'Spell.'

No less than Enel, Crocodile is also an extraordinary figure.  The fight between Luffy and Crocodile is still one of the epic and iconic fights in the One Piece series.  This is Luffy's first fight, where he has to really put all his strength and strength into it.  And even in this battle Luffy must feel how bitter a failure is in the fight.

Crocodile's strength level is far above Luffy's.  Crocodile himself was still part of the Shichibukai.  In this battle, Luffy was not even defeated once but twice.  First, he was rendered helpless and almost drowned in the sand.  Second, Luffy was dehydrated by Crocodile after his body fluids were sucked in.

Fail to Be Strong

Based on the information we know about the characters, actually the two villains have the potential to become very strong figures.  But, unfortunately, they must experience defeat due to lack of experience or because of other factors.  For example, for Enel himself he managed to defeat Luffy because of his lack of knowledge about the outside world.  He really knew nothing but sky islands, and this was one of the factors in his defeat.

Enel is completely clueless about Luffy's power related to rubber.  As we know, rubber is not a natural conductor of electricity.  This means that Enel's electric attack on Luffy will not have much effect on Luffy.  Even when Enel transforms into his strongest form or transforms into his strongest form, he still can't beat Luffy due to his ignorance of other information.

If only Luffy had not come to the sky island and met Enel, then the fight would not have happened.  Enel may still be in power and be the one who oppresses the inhabitants of the sky island.  On the other hand, if Enel were to descend into the underworld perhaps he would become one of the major threats to the World Government.  Oda Sensei himself once said that Enel could get a large bounty.

How about Crocodile?  Actually, Crocodile is a much stronger figure than Luffy in his fight in the Alabasta arc.  Luffy's great determination factor to be able to win, and also the unlucky that is in Crocodile, in the end makes the villain have to swallow a humiliating defeat.  This is the first time the Shichibukai were defeated by ordinary pirates.

Crocodile is without a doubt one of the smartest characters in One Piece.  Crocodile was able to paralyze a country, influence its people, and almost cause a large-scale rebellion.  However, in the end, he had to lose to Luffy.  And that made him fail to become a strong and influential figure in the world of One Piece.
