One Piece: Here's How Haki Works!

Haki is an extraordinary power that exists in the One Piece series.  Not everyone is able to use or awaken Haki.  Even though most of the people in the New World possessed this ability, when compared to the total number of people in the world, only a few were able to use this power.

Haki itself is basically an ability where a person is able to use their willpower or spirit for something very extraordinary in a fight.  Haki itself, as we know, is divided into three types.  First is Observation Haki, then Armament Haki, and Conqueror Haki.

We certainly already know what and how and how strong Haki is in the series.  However, information about Haki only emerged when Luffy trained together with Rayleigh.  However, in fact the power of Haki itself has been shown by Oda even since the first chapter or episode of the series.  We can see this when Shanks uses Conqueror Haki to subdue one of the Sea Kings.

How Does Haki Work?

According to Silvers Rayleigh's explanation, Haki is a form of physical manifestation of spiritual power.  Or simply is a form or manifestation of someone's destiny or spiritual strength.  This means that with great determination or passion in them, they will also have extraordinary Haki abilities.  And with high determination or enthusiasm will give more abilities and advantages in a fight.

Usually, Haki abilities will appear when they face a much stronger opponent.  For example, when Luffy had to face Doflamingo in the Dressrosa arc.  Or when facing Katakuri in the Whole Cake Island arc and also facing Kaido in the Wano arc.  However, Luffy has also faced opponents who are far below his level.  He once used Conqueror Haki to destroy the Demalo Black pirates, when they imitated the Straw Hats on Sabaody.

This determination or enthusiasm can then be channeled or directed to various things.  For example, they could use that willpower to transform into armor.  Or it could turn some of their limbs hard, for example on the head or arms or legs.  They can also harden all parts of the body, like the character Vergo.

In addition to hardening body parts, the flow of will or spirit can also coat various objects or objects such as swords or whatever.  For example, Ben Beckmann's bullets or Zoro's sword or arrows belonging to the Kuja tribe.  This is what we later know as Armament Haki or Busoshoku Haki or Armament Haki.  However, there is one main function of this Haki.

Armament Haki is a way to deal with devil fruit users, especially Logia types.  By using this Haki, they will be able to withstand the original form of the devil fruit user.  For example when Rayleigh resisted Kizaru's attack while on Sabaody.  Or when Hancock blocked Smoker's attack.  Without this Haki they will have a hard time dealing with Logia users.

More Haki in One Piece

Apart from Armament Haki, the user can also channel this determination or spirit for other abilities.  For example, feeling someone's presence, feeling someone's emotions, measuring the opponent's strength level, predicting the opponent's movement, and the most extraordinary thing is looking to the future.  This Haki technique is then known as Observation Haki or Kenbunshoku Haki or Supervision Haki.

Armament Haki as well as Observation Haki are two types of Haki that commonly appear in One Piece stories, where many characters have this ability.  Even so, not all of them are capable of being at the highest level.  So far, only a few characters have reached the highest level, such as Katakuri, Sanji, and Luffy.  By using this technique, users can have a greater chance of winning.

Lastly is Haoshoku Haki or Conqueror Haki or Ruler Haki.  This is a very rare and rare Haki in the series.  Not everyone can awaken or learn this type of Haki.  Because, according to information, of the millions of people only one person is able to have this power.

How then does this type of Haki work?

Because it is not an ordinary type of Haki, the owner of this type of Haki usually has a greater willpower or spirit than other characters.  Thus, with the power of determination or spirit, the user can manipulate or even conquer other willpower.  In fact, within a certain level the power of this Haki is capable of damaging the surroundings.

We can see this when Shanks came to the Moby Dick ship, where the ship shook and cracked.  Or when Whitebeard and Roger fight, we see the surrounding area of ​​the island shake and all the animals go from there.  This Haki ability can be applied to all living things, both humans and animals.
